Mike Uyehara is another transfer to the Huskies. Uyehara played his freshman season for Navy. He started every match for Navy and scored two goals. Mid-way through his first season with Navy, he was moved to defense.
Uyehara played his club soccer in Southern California for SoCal United. His youth team won three U.S. National Championships. The Californian sat out the 2011 UW campaign in compliance with NCAA transfer regulations.
“Michael represents a pit bull at the back and he has a solid engine. His experience will help as our team competes in this division,” Darren Sawatzky said.

2009: Uyehara had a sensational freshman season, being one of two players to start all 19 games ... ranked tied for fourth on the team in points (5), but was tied for the team lead in goals (2) ... was third on the team in shots (18) ... started the season as a forward, but was moved to defenseman prior to the Army game ... both of his goals were of the game-winning variety ... netted the game-winning goal in Navy’s 2-0 victory over Saint Francis (Pa.) in the UMBC / adidas Kick-off Classic ... added second career goal in Navy’s 1-0 win over Howard ... dished out an assist against Loyola (Md.) ... was named to the UMBC / adidas Kick-off Classic all-tournament team ... recorded three shots against Saint Joseph’s, Saint Francis (Pa.) and Lafayette.
