Tacoma, WA. – Sounders U23 roll in a training match against Bellevue College on a rainy Thursday night. The contest ended in a 4-0 victory for the Sounders U23 as they prepare for their PDL Regular Season that kicks off on May 11.
The training match was an opportunity for the Sounders U23 to continue evaluation of preseason trialists as well as building fitness and sharpness for the team’s signees.
The Sounders U23 goals came from four different goal scorers. The first goal of the night was put home by one of those players signed for the 2012 season. Jamael Cox scored in the 32nd minute off a pass from Esteban Reyes.
The Sounders U23 would score all of their goals within 20 minutes of each other. The 2nd tally was just four minutes after the Cox goal. This time Fawzi Belall slipped a ball to Nick McCluskey who hammered home a 36th minute shot.
After the break the Sounders U23 continued on the attack. Belall, an assistant coach for the team, filling in on the field during preseason made the score 3-0 on another nice pass from Esteban Reyes.
In the 50th minute of play, Sean Morris whipped in a corner kick to the head of Balin Larson. The header was powered past the Bellevue College goalkeeper and into the net. The 4-0 score held until the final whistle.
The Sounders U23 continue to build toward the PDL regular season which starts on the road at Vancouver, Victoria, and Kitsap. The 2012 Home Opener is on May 25 against the Victoria Highlanders at Franklin Pierce High School.
