Sounders U23 head to Salem, Oregon for PDL tilt

The Sounders U23 team heads to Salem, Oregon on Friday, June 22nd to face the Portland Timbers U23 team again in a must win game to keep any playoff hope alive in the 2018 PDL season.  Currently, Calgary Foothills has 23 points with a record of 7-1-2 to lead the PDL Northwest Division.   The PDL changed the playoff entries into the Western Conference Finals to the top point team in the three divisions with each top team in the three conferences receiving a birth.  The team in the three Western Conference Divisions with the next highest point total receives the fourth and final birth.

With a record of 2-3-2 and a couple games in hand, the Portland Timbers U23 team is looking to make a run for the second half of their season.   Rey Ortiz had three assists for the Portland Timbers U23 team against the Sounders U23 in a win at McCullough Stadium on June 5th.  Benji Michel had two goals in the game and Sounders U23 fell 0-3 though they outshot the Portland Timbers U23 21-7 in the game.

The Sounders U23 will look to build on a comeback tie this past week against Lane United.  Sitting at 2-4-3 in an uncharacteristic year of giving up goals, the Sounders U23 are also creating chances and starting to put the chances away.  Santiago Patino leads the team with 6 goals and 2 assists and will look to help the young guns in green as they head out on the road this Friday.

A holiday week will see two home games for the Sounders U23 with July 3rd and July 6th both hosting games at Sunset Stadium at 7:30pm.
